Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection: Rishab Shetty's mystic folklore universe has created yet another magic in the hearts of fans, as his prequel Kantara Chapter 1 surprises critics with a humongous opening. Kantara Chapter 1 was released on October 1st, and it collected a whopping Rs 60 crore on the Day 1. The movie is now racing towards the Rs 100 crore club swiftly. The demand continues to be high for Kantara Chapter 1 as critics' reviews come in positive. In Hindi occupancy, Kantara 1 stepped up to become the second-largest opener in Hindi occupancy by a Kannada film after KGF chapter 2.

Data from Sacnilk showed that despite slow advance booking in the initial days, Kantara Chapter 1 made a huge selling on the release date. The festive holiday due to Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti was an added bonus. In Hindi occupancy, the movie bagged between Rs 19 to Rs 21 crore on Day 1 (early estimates). Its Hindi occupancy stood a 29.84% on October 2nd.
The occupancy was strong in Kannada and Telugu to the tune of 88.13% and 75.34% respectively on October 2nd.
Overall, in India nett, the movie surpassed Rs 50 crore club and collected Rs 60 crore on Day 1.
According to Sacnilk, the opening of the film is quite contrasting to the initial booking response, which was quite lukewarm. At that time, even a double-digit opening looked like a far cry, but the tide started to turn a day before the release when pre-sales witnessed a much-needed positive turnaround, followed by a solid spot booking response.
Following the stellar response, Kantara Chapter 1 has entered the top 10 openers list in 2025 so far under Hindi occupancy. Not just that, the movie has entered the top 10 openers list in India nett collection this year.

Furthermore, the data revealed that Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection has opened 1400% higher than Kantara 2022 opening day collection which was around Rs 1.27 crore. Kantara Chapter 1 is already nearing to take over the lifetime collection of Kantara 2022 of Rs 81.1 crore.

Kantara Chapter 1 is a prequel of Kantara 2022. The movie is directed by Shetty who will also play the lead role. Further, the movie is produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under Hombale Films. The cast of Kantara Chapter 1 are Rishab Shetty as Berme, Jayaram as King Vijayendra, Rukmini Vasanth as Kanakavathi, and Gulshan Devaiah as Kulashekara.
