ISRO's Bahubali Rocket LVM3 CMS-03 Perfectly Lands: How Defence Stocks React? HAL, BDL, BEL & More In Focus

India has marked yet another success in space with ISRO making a perfect injection of the CMS-03 communication satellite in its 5th operational flight (LVM3-M5) during the weekend. CMS-03 is the heaviest satellite to ever be launched by India. However, the reaction of defence stocks have been rather mixed due to lackluster performance in the broader market. The defence large-caps saw selling pressure, while midcaps and smallcaps performed better but gains are limited in the early deals on November 3, 2025.

At the time of writing, the Nifty India Defence index traded at 8,118.10, down by 17.10 points or 0.21%. The index ranged between intraday high and low of 8,168.70 and 8,087.75 respectively.

Among the gainers are ---- Zen Technologies in lead with nearly 4% upside, followed by Cyient DLM, Dynamatic Technologies, Solar Industries and Astra Microwave gaining by around 1% to 1.5%. Stocks like Cochin Shipyard and Bharat Forge were marginally up.

Under the top bears category, MTAR Tech led the selloffs with downside of nearly 5.4% followed by Paras Defence & Aerospace and Bharat Electronics Limited who plunged by 1.2% each. Also, stocks like BEML and Bharat Dynamics dropped by around 1% each. Stocks like Mazagon Dock, Unimech Aerospace, GRSE, Data Patterns, Hindustan Aeronautics and MIDHANI dipped marginally.

The current market performance is attributed to the mixed global cues performance. As per Amruta Shinde, Technical & Derivative Analyst at Choice Equity Broking, this reflects a cautiously optimistic sentiment among investors amid mixed global cues and the absence of strong domestic triggers. In the near term, traders are likely to focus on global market trends, crude oil price movements, and institutional fund flows to gauge direction.

Otherwise, the successful launch of CMS-03 comes as a key positive for the aerospace and defence sector.

ISRO Bahubali Rocket Launch:

As per the latest update by ISRO, the LVM3 launch vehicle has made perfect injection of CMS-03 communication satellite in its 5th operational flight on November 2, 2025.

The CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite that will provide services over a wide oceanic region including the Indian landmass. CMS-03, weighing about 4400kg, will be the heaviest communication satellite to be launched to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) from Indian soil. The previous mission of LVM3 launched the Chandrayaan-3 mission, where in, India became the first country to land successfully near the lunar south pole.

The launch vehicle has been fully assembled and integrated with the spacecraft and has been moved to the Launch Pad on October 26, 2025 for further pre-launch operations.
