Is WhatsApp Down Today? Users Worldwide Unable to Scroll Chats on WhatsApp Web; Meta's Response Awaited
On Tuesday, a growing number of WhatsApp Web users reported a frustrating glitch, an inability to scroll through chats. The issue often occurs when users interact with the sticker or emoji panel, rendering chat navigation nearly impossible. Complaints flooded social media platforms as the issue appeared actively interfering with daily messaging.
WhatsApp Scrolling Issue Updates: Social Media Flooded With WhatsApp Users' Screaming
On X (formerly Twitter), several users aired their frustrations. One wrote, "Dear WhatsApp. We are unable to scroll msgs through mouse or touchpad. Kindly resolve ASAP." Others shared experiences of being unable to scroll through chats or messages on WhatsApp's web interface, emphasizing that the problem seemed isolated to the web version.

Similar long-standing issues have been reported on Reddit by users encountering erratic scrolling behaviour. "My PC WhatsApp stopped scrolling... I uninstalled the desktop WhatsApp then reinstalled it... still the same issue," a user posted.
WhatsApp Chats Freeze Mid-Scroll
These and other accounts show that scrolling irregularities like chats that jump unexpectedly or freeze mid-scroll-have been a recurring frustration for users over time.
WhatsApp Web is not a stranger to technical problems. In April, the platform suffered an outage that left thousands unable to send messages, with users also unable to update statuses or login according to Downdetector data.
And earlier, on February 28, a separate service disruption logged more than 5,000 global reports of missing delivered messages. Given WhatsApp's massive user base-over 530 million in India and nearly 3 billion globally-any hiccup becomes highly visible.
Right now, the specific cause of the scrolling glitch remains unclear. Users have noted that refreshing the page sometimes temporarily fixes the issue. Others suggest avoiding the sticker or emoji panels until a more permanent solution is available.
No Confirmation from WhatsApp Parent's Meta Yet
As of Tuesday afternoon, WhatsApp's parent company Meta had not released any public acknowledgement or update regarding the issue. The absence of communication has only added to user dissatisfaction, as many await a reliable fix.
