IPL 2026 Mini Auction: Big Names and Expected Bidding Wars
Early trends suggest that Cameron Green is likely to be one of the most sought-after players at the auction, with an intense bidding war expected for the Australian all-rounder. Kolkata Knight Riders, armed with the biggest purse, appear well-placed to make aggressive bids, although their large number of vacancies could limit excessive spending on a single player.
Among the 359 shortlisted players, 40 have registered themselves at the maximum base price of Rs 2 crore. Notably, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi are the only Indian players in this top base-price bracket.
Spotlight on Venkatesh Iyer
Venkatesh Iyer's name is expected to draw attention during the auction, especially after his high-profile purchase in the previous edition. Kolkata Knight Riders had spent Rs 23.75 crore to secure his services last season, but the investment failed to deliver the desired returns. Iyer struggled for consistency and was eventually dropped from the playing XI midway through the tournament, making his prospects at the IPL 2026 auction closely watched.
