Indian Railways Announce 30 Additional Diwali & Chhath Puja Special Trains in These Routes: Check Date, Timing

Central Railway have announced additional 30 special trains to manage the massive passenger rush during Diwali and Chhath Puja 2025, covering routes like LTT-Madgaon, Panvel-Chiplun, Rajkot-Barauni and more. New LTT-Madgaon Weekly Special Train

Among the railways' new offerings is a Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) to Madgaon weekly special, which will run six times in October. Train 01003 will depart LTT at 8:20 AM on Mondays (Oct 6, 13, 20) and reach Madgaon by 10:40 PM the same day. The return leg, Train 01004, leaves Madgaon at 4:30 PM on Sundays (Oct 5, 12, 19), arriving at LTT by 6:20 AM the next day.

These trains will stop at Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri and Karmali among other stations.

The train's composition includes one AC 2-tier coach, three AC 3-tier coaches, two AC 3-tier economy coaches, eight sleeper class coaches, four general second-class coaches, one second seating and guard's brake van and one generator van.

Booking for Train no. 01003, LTT-Madgaon Weekly Special Train opens on Saturday across all computerised reservation centres and via the IRCTC website.

Panvel-Chiplun Special Train For Festivals; Check Running Dates and Time

Central Railway will also operate 24 unreserved special services between Panvel and Chiplun on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October 26.

  • Train 01159 departs Panvel at 4:40 PM, reaching Chiplun by 9:55 PM
  • Train 01160 leaves Chiplun at 11:05 AM, arriving at Panvel by 4:10 PM

These services will be unreserved with tickets available via the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS). Stops include Somatane, Apta, Jite, Pen, Roha, Kolad, Mangaon, Veer, Anjani, and a few intermediate halts.

Pune-Danapur Express Gets New Numbers

In another update, Central Railway announced that the Pune-Danapur-Supaul Express will be renumbered from December 4. Train 12149 will operate as 11401 and Train 12150 will run as 11402 going forward.

5 Puja Special Trains To Run From October 1 To November 30; Check List of Expresses With Their Schedule

Western Railway has likewise rolled out five pairs of festival special trains from October 1 to November 30 to address increased demand during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja periods. Some of the key routes include:

  • Bandra Terminus-Sanganer (Train Nos. 09023/09024) - weekly special
  • Sabarmati-Patna (09427/09428) - weekly special
  • Indore-Khadki (09324/09323) - weekly special
  • Indore-Hazrat Nizamuddin (09309/09310) - bi‑weekly superfast
  • Rajkot-Barauni (09569/09570) - weekly special

For instance, Train 09023 will depart Bandra every Thursday at 4:45 PM, reaching Sanganer by 12:30 PM the next day; Train 09024 will depart Sanganer every Friday at 4:50 PM, arriving Bandra at 11:15 AM.

Other major routes include Sabarmati to Patna, Indore to Khadki, Indore to Nizamuddin, and Rajkot to Barauni. Halts include many major junctions and cities across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Bookings for these special trains will open soon via PRS counters and the IRCTC website.
