India Energy Week 2026: EIL Shares Insights on Energy Infrastructure, Global Projects, Advanced Refinery Tech
India Energy Week 2026, now in its fourth edition, is underway in Goa from January 27 to 30, positioning India firmly at the heart of the global energy transition. Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and jointly organised by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) and dmg events, the flagship event has emerged as a key platform for shaping the future of energy through collaboration, innovation, and policy dialogue.

As global energy dynamics evolve, India Energy Week 2026 is bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, and investors to deliberate on pragmatic pathways towards a secure, sustainable, and affordable energy ecosystem, aligned with India's long-term growth and climate ambitions.
'Tremendous Response' to IEW 2026: EIL
Speaking to OneIndia on Day 2 of India Energy Week 2026, Naveen Parashar, Executive Director, C&MD Office, Engineers India Limited (EIL), said the response to the event has been overwhelmingly positive. Here's an excerpt of the exclusive interview:
What sort of response has EIL seen?
"We are getting a tremendous response. The infrastructure built for India Energy Week is world-class, and EIL has been instrumental in developing this infrastructure and facility, which will also be used for upcoming editions of IEW. This world-class setup was even appreciated by the Minister during the inaugural session."
"As far as EIL is concerned, we are a company with nearly six decades of experience and have played a key role in developing the complete infrastructure of India's energy and oil & gas sector. Out of the 21 refineries in the country, 20 have been built by EIL."
"If you look at the EIL stall, we have showcased almost all the projects we have executed - not only in India but globally. A few years ago, we completed the Dangote Refinery, one of the largest single-train refineries in the world, and we have recently signed a contract to double its capacity. We also have a strong footprint in Abu Dhabi and are currently executing multiple projects for the ADNOC group of companies."
What sort of innovation, especially with new refineries and emerging technologies, is EIL bringing in to improve efficiency?
"EIL has been instrumental in redefining the refinery sector by introducing new technologies. One of our major recent achievements is the Resid Upgradation facility commissioned at HPCL's Vizag refinery. This is among the world's first LCMAX technologies, which has improved bottom recoveries to around 95%, compared to less than 70% earlier."
"In addition, we offer several in-house technologies to our clients. At the HPCL Vizag refinery, we delivered the mother unit, which is highly energy-efficient and among the most efficient refinery units globally. We continue to work on innovations to improve energy efficiency across refineries and have proposed multiple solutions that are now being implemented across the country."
Would you say emerging technologies like AI are playing a role?
"Yes, AI is being implemented across the entire value chain - not only in project execution but also in refinery operations to improve asset integrity and reduce downtime. While there are several AI use cases, the most critical aspect is effective integration. Reliability, efficiency, and asset integration are the three key focus areas while implementing AI across refinery establishment, operations, and maintenance."
