The total prize purse for the tournament now stands at an impressive $13.88 million (around Rs 122.5 crore), nearly three times higher than before.
Each group-stage victory will fetch teams $34,314 (Rs 30.29 lakh), with fifth and sixth-placed sides earning $700,000 (Rs 62 lakh) each. Teams finishing seventh and eighth will take home $280,000 (Rs 24.71 lakh), while all participating nations are guaranteed a minimum of $250,000 (Rs 22 lakh).
BCCI Announces Bonus Rewards Indian Cricket Women Team
The decision has been widely praised across the cricketing community. Rajeev Shukla, Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), lauded the ICC for taking a major step toward gender equality in sports. "We are very happy with this decision. The prize money has been increased significantly, and we hope that our team will win the World Cup," said Shukla.
He also hinted that the BCCI may reward the women's team with a bonus similar to what was given to Rohit Sharma's men's team after their T20 World Cup victory last year, when they received Rs 125 crore for their triumph over South Africa in the Americas.
