GST Rate Cuts on Electronics & Appliances Before Diwali 2025: TV, AC, Fridges, Dishwashers & More Get Cheaper
In a festive bonanza ahead of Diwali and the start of Navratri 2025, consumers can expect major price cuts as Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate reductions on electronics and household appliances come into effect from September 22, 2025. The GST Council's decision to slash tax rates on nearly 375 items including essential goods, consumer electronics and home appliances has led to massive price drops across major brands.
From televisions and air conditioners to refrigerators and dishwashers, several big-ticket items that families typically purchase during the festive season are now more affordable thanks to revised GST rates.

TV Prices Drop by Up to Rs 85,000 as GST Cut to 18%; Check Sony Bravia, LG and Other Smart TV's Latest Rates
One of the biggest winners in the GST rate reform is the television segment. The GST on TVs above 32 inches has been reduced from 28% to 18%, prompting leading brands to slash prices by thousands. These price drops are expected to drive strong sales during the festive period, as consumers typically purchase TVs during Navratri and Diwali.
Sony India has reduced MRP on its Bravia range by Rs 5,000 to Rs 71,000, depending on the screen size. For example, the 43-inch BRAVIA 2, previously priced at Rs 59,900, is now available at Rs 54,900.
LG Electronics India has announced price reductions of Rs 2,500 to Rs 85,800 on models ranging from 43 inches to 100 inches. Popular 55-inch and 65-inch LG TVs now cost Rs 42,990 and Rs 68,490, respectively.
Panasonic has also lowered prices by Rs 3,000 to Rs 32,000. Its 75-inch premium model, earlier priced at Rs 4 lakh, is now available at Rs 3.68 lakh.
ACs Get Cheaper by Up to Rs 4,300 With GST Reduced to 18%
In another major move, the GST on air conditioners has been cut from 28% to 18%, making them significantly more affordable for consumers.
Here's a price comparison of top AC brands before and after GST reduction:
The Voltas 1.5 Ton Split AC now costs Rs 39,600, down from Rs 43,000, giving buyers a savings of Rs 3,400.
The LG Inverter AC (1.5 Ton, 5 Star) is now available for Rs 47,900, reduced from its earlier price of Rs 52,000, offering a discount of Rs 4,100.
Samsung's Split AC (1 Ton, 3 Star) has become more affordable at Rs 32,300, compared to the earlier price of Rs 35,000, saving consumers Rs 2,700.
The Blue Star Inverter AC (1.5 Ton, 5 Star) now retails for Rs 50,700, slashed from Rs 55,000, resulting in a price cut of Rs 4,300.
"Earlier, the GST on ACs in India was 28%, making air conditioners slightly expensive for many households. Now, with the rate down to 18%, the difference is clear. For example, an AC that costs Rs 40,000 would earlier include Rs 8,750 GST. At the new rate, the GST becomes Rs 5,625. That's a saving of Rs 3,125 right at the time of purchase. This cut in the AC GST rate means customers can now explore better models, higher star ratings, or even premium brands without overshooting their budget," Reliance Digital noted.
Refrigerator Prices Down by 7-9%
Refrigerators are also among the electronics benefiting from the GST cut. Leading manufacturers are offering price drops up to 9%:
Godrej Appliances will reduce prices by 7-8%.
