GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines Joint Venture to Manufacture LEAP Engine Components in India
Godrej Enterprises Group has secured a five-year contract to manufacture critical LEAP engine components for Safran Aircraft Engines, enhancing India's aerospace capabilities. This initiative supports the Make-in-India vision and strengthens partnerships within the global aerospace ecosystem.
Godrej Enterprises Group's aerospace division announced on Friday that it has secured a significant contract to produce essential components for LEAP engines. These engines, developed by the joint venture CFM International between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines, primarily power modern narrow-body aircraft. The five-year agreement involves manufacturing complex ventilation assemblies using titanium materials.

The production process will require intricate machining, precision welding, and advanced non-destructive testing to meet the rigorous standards of civil aviation. This contract highlights India's increasing importance in the global aerospace industry. "This contract is a strong endorsement of India's growing role in the global aerospace ecosystem. By producing such highly complex components right here in India, we are advancing the vision of Make-in-India for the world," stated Maneck Behramkamdin, Executive Vice President and Business Head for aerospace business at Godrej Enterprises Group.
Strengthening Global Partnerships
With this new order, Godrej Enterprises Group enhances its long-standing collaboration with Safran and broadens its involvement in supporting international aero-engine programmes. The company emphasised that this development aligns with its goal to become a key supplier to global aircraft engine original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The contract also reinforces Godrej's commitment to boosting India's aerospace manufacturing capabilities.
Dominique Dupuy, Senior Vice President for Purchasing at Safran Aircraft Engines, remarked on the partnership's significance: "By expanding this long-standing partnership with Godrej Enterprises Group, we are supporting the LEAP programme and advancing Safran's vision of fostering long-term industrial ties with India as a strategic hub in the global aerospace ecosystem."
Advancing India's Aerospace Vision
This collaboration not only strengthens Godrej's position as a major global supplier of high-precision aerospace components but also supports India's Make-in-India initiative. The contract signifies a step forward in establishing India as a strategic hub for aerospace manufacturing on a global scale. Through this partnership, both companies aim to foster long-term industrial relationships and enhance India's role in the international aerospace sector.
By securing this mandate, Godrej Enterprises Group further consolidates its status as a leading supplier of sophisticated aerospace components worldwide. The company's efforts contribute significantly to advancing India's capabilities in aerospace manufacturing and align with its vision of becoming a prominent player in the global market.
