GATE 2026 Application Form Out: How to Register Online, Fees, Eligibility & Documents Required
The GATE 2026 registration process is now live from August 28, 2025, through the official GATE portal managed by IIT Guwahati at gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Aspiring engineers and postgraduate candidates must register before September 28th to avoid late fees, with a final extended deadline till October 9, 2025, available with payment of late charges.
GATE 2026 is a prestigious national-level examination for admission into postgraduate engineering programmes and recruitment by public sector units. The exam will take place on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2026
In order to be eligible for GATE 2026, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering/technology/architecture or equivalent,or candidates must be in the final year of such programmes.
Candidates from MSc, PhD, and other relevant postgraduate science programmes can also apply.
It should be noted that there is no upper age limit.
Documents Required for GATE 2026 Registration
To complete the GATE 2026 registration process, applicants need to keep a few important documents ready. A recent passport-sized photograph and a scanned signature are mandatory for identity verification. Candidates must also provide a valid ID proof, which can be Aadhaar, passport, PAN card, or voter ID. Those belonging to a reserved category should upload their category certificate as applicable. In addition, candidates must submit their qualifying degree certificate or a provisional certificate to prove educational eligibility.
How to Register for GATE 2026? Step-by-Step Guide:
Step 1: Visit the Official Website:Go to gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
Step 2: Create an Account:Register by providing your name, email, and mobile number and setting a password.
Step 3: Verify Credentials:Confirm your email and mobile with the OTP sent.
Step 4: Fill Application Form:Enter personal, academic, and communication details. Select one GATE paper from 29 available streams and select three exam centre preferences.
Step 5: Upload Documents:Upload a scanned photograph, signature, category certificate (if applicable), qualifying degree certificate, and valid photo ID.
Step 6: Pay the application fee, which is Rs. 1000 for female/SC/ST/PwD candidates & Rs. 2000 for other candidates.
Step 7: Submit and Download:Review the form carefully, submit it and download the confirmation page.
