FIR Against Bollywood Superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone Over Faulty Car Endorsement
Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, who were last seen together in Atlee's 2023 blockbuster Jawan, have found themselves entangled in legal trouble. A lawyer from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, has filed a formal complaint against the actors, accusing them of promoting a car model that he claims has serious manufacturing defects and posed a safety threat.
FIR Filed Against Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone: Here's Why
According to a report by IANS, the FIR was registered at the Mathura Gate police station in Bharatpur district. The complainant, Advocate Kirti Singh, alleged that the car brand-endorsed by both actors in national television and digital campaigns-misled consumers into purchasing a defective vehicle under the influence of celebrity endorsements.

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone Booked in FIR for Faulty Car
Singh stated in his complaint that he purchased the car in 2022 at a price of Rs 23.97 lakh, paying an advance of Rs 51,000 and securing a vehicle loan of over Rs 10 lakh. According to him, the vehicle was heavily promoted as "trouble-free," and he was convinced to buy it based on the actors' endorsements and the dealership's claims.
However, shortly after purchase, Singh noticed several technical problems with the car:
- The vehicle often fails to accelerate properly while overtaking, despite the RPM increasing.
- The odometer frequently flashes malfunction warnings.
- The car vibrates and emits strange noises at higher speeds.
- He narrowly avoided accidents due to the performance issues, making it a significant safety concern.
Despite several visits to the dealership and attempts to resolve the issue, Singh claims that the problem persisted. He was eventually told by dealership staff that the car had an inherent manufacturing defect that could not be corrected.
Why Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone Are Named?
Kirti Singh has not only filed a complaint against the car manufacturer and dealership but has explicitly named Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the FIR, citing their celebrity endorsement as a crucial factor influencing his purchase decision.
He has argued that the actors, by promoting the car, have misled consumers and should be held accountable under consumer protection laws. Singh believes that as brand ambassadors, both stars bear a degree of responsibility for the product's quality, especially when their public image is used to gain consumer trust.
Police Confirm Investigation Is Underway
Police officials at the Mathura Gate police station have confirmed the registration of the FIR. A detailed investigation is currently underway, and officials stated that any further legal action will depend on the findings of the inquiry.
As of now, neither the car manufacturer nor the actors' representatives have issued an official statement in response to the allegations.
