EPFO Introduces ‘Passbook Lite’: View PF Contributions & Balance In One Place

The EPFO has launched Passbook Lite, allowing members to easily view EPF contributions and balances on the member portal. This initiative improves transparency, streamlines processes, and enhances user experience.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a new feature called 'Passbook Lite' on its member portal. This tool allows subscribers to view a simplified version of their EPF passbook directly on the portal. Members can now easily access details of their contributions, withdrawals, and balance without needing to log in separately to the passbook website.

EPFO Introduces ‘Passbook Lite’: View PF Contributions & Balance In One Place

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya shared this development during a programme highlighting key reforms by EPFO. The 'Passbook Lite' feature aims to enhance user experience by integrating existing APIs within the member portal, thus reducing the load on the Passbook Portal. This integration is expected to improve operational efficiency and provide all essential services through a single login.

Enhanced Transparency and Access

The introduction of 'Passbook Lite' is designed to increase transparency and reduce grievances among members. By offering a quick snapshot of account details, it simplifies access and enhances member satisfaction. The initiative also aims to streamline processes, ensuring that members can easily verify their PF transfers and track transfer applications online.

Previously, when employees changed jobs, their EPF accounts were transferred online using Form 13. The old PF office would generate a transfer certificate (Annexure K) for the new PF office. Now, members can directly download Annexure K in PDF format from the Member Portal whenever needed.

Streamlined Approval Processes

Mandaviya highlighted that EPFO services like PF transfers, settlements, advances, and refunds required higher-level officers for approval. This often led to delays in processing claims. To address this issue, EPFO has delegated approval powers to assistant PF Commissioners and lower-level officers. This change is expected to shorten processing times and expedite claim settlements.

This reform ensures that members receive faster services with improved accountability at field offices. By streamlining approval processes, EPFO aims for more efficient service delivery while maintaining transparency and enhancing member satisfaction through quicker resolutions.

Digital Records for Future References

The ability for members to track transfer applications online ensures full transparency in verifying PF transfers. It confirms that the PF balance and service period are accurately updated in new accounts. Additionally, permanent digital records will be maintained for future references, which are crucial for EPS benefit calculations.

Overall, these changes reflect EPFO's commitment to improving user experience by simplifying processes and providing seamless access to essential services through its member portal.
