Durga Puja- Dussehra 2025 Bank Holiday Calendar: Check State-wise Full List of Holidays in October 2025
With Sharadiya Navratri 2025 already in full swing since September 22, the festive spirit is building up across India. As Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami Mahanavami and Dussehra approach, several states have announced extended bank and school holidays to accommodate religious observances and public festivities. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has also listed a string of regional bank holidays.
Durga Puja 2025: Full List of Bank Holidays in October 2025
According to the RBI holiday calendar, banks in India remain closed on second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays throughout the October. However, during Durga Puja, several additional holidays have been announced, particularly in West Bengal and several other states, where the festival is celebrated on a grand scale.

In Kolkata and across West Bengal, banks will remain closed for a stretch of six consecutive days, starting from Saptami (the seventh day of Navaratri):
27th September (Saturday) - Closed (Durga Puja holiday)
28th September (Sunday) - Weekly holiday
29th September (Monday)
30th September (Tuesday)
1st October (Wednesday)
2nd October (Thursday) - Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra
This makes for an extended six-day bank holiday in several districts of West Bengal.
September 30 Declared Public Holiday in Kerala
In a special announcement, the Kerala government has declared September 30, 2025, as a public holiday on account of Navaratri celebrations. This move creates a three-day long weekend at the end of the month and aligns Kerala with similar festive closures announced in other states.
Bank Holiday on 1st October 2025 on Maha Navami
1st October (Wednesday): Mahanavami holiday in Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura and West Bengal.
Bank Holiday on 2nd October 2025: Dussehra 2025 and Gandhi Jayanti 2025 Holiday
Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra, observed across most Indian states and union territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala and others.
