Significance of Sandhya Arghya

The Sandhya Arghya is not just a ritual but a symbolic dialogue between human devotion and nature's energy. According to Vedic beliefs, the Sun represents vitality, strength, and success, governing the balance of life on Earth. Offering Arghya at sunset reflects gratitude for daily blessings and reinforces faith in resilience - that every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn.

How Sandhya Arghya is Performed

To perform the Sandhya Arghya, devotees face the setting Sun with folded hands, offering water and milk from traditional bamboo baskets (soops). Offerings include seasonal fruits such as sugarcane and thekua, a traditional sweet made of wheat flour and jaggery. The ritual also features lit diyas and flowers, creating a serene, divine atmosphere at the ghats.

Throughout the ceremony, devotees chant "Om Suryaya Namaha" as they express devotion and seek blessings. Women observing the Chhath fast break it only after completing the final ritual of Usha Arghya (morning offering) the next day.
