The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast intense rainfall across multiple districts of Tamil Nadu as Cyclone Senyar moves closer to the state's coast. According to the IMD, the cyclone is expected to bring very heavy rainfall measuring 12-20 cm in 24 hours to three delta districts on November 28, seven districts including Chennai on November 29, and Tiruvallur on November 30.

Additionally, districts such as Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Cuddalore and Mayiladuthurai are also expected to see heavy showers.

On Friday, November 29, rainfall is forecast to intensify and move toward north Tamil Nadu. Districts including Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpet, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Puducherry are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rain. IMD's updated warning indicates that these areas could face widespread waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and possible power outages as the cyclone edges closer to the Chennai coastline.

As Cyclone Senyar continues its trajectory, November 30 is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to Tiruvallur. The surrounding districts-Chennai, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, and Puducherry-may also receive heavy downpours. Authorities have warned residents in low-lying areas to prepare for potential flooding, while disaster management teams remain on standby.

Cyclone Senyar To Reach Chennai Coast Between November 29-30

Forecast models suggest that Cyclone Senyar may approach the Chennai coast between November 29 and 30, significantly increasing rainfall intensity. The IMD indicated that the heaviest spells are expected to begin on Friday, with continuous rain likely through the weekend. Residents are advised to monitor official updates and avoid unnecessary travel during peak rainfall hours.
