BMW Group Achieves 10% Sales Growth in India with 7,774 Units Sold in First Half of 2025

BMW Group reported a 10% increase in sales in India, reaching 7,774 units from January to June 2025. This marks a rise from the 7,081 units sold during the same period in 2024. The company also sold 2,569 motorcycles under the Motorrad brand during this timeframe.

BMW Group Sales Rise by 10% in India

The company maintained its leadership in luxury electric vehicle sales with a significant 234% year-on-year growth. A total of 1,322 BMW and MINI electric vehicles were sold in the first half of 2025. Electric cars now make up 18% of BMW Group India's total sales.

Focus on Electric Mobility

Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, stated, "We are on a fast track, posting over 10 per cent growth despite a challenging environment as we continue to unfold new opportunities in the luxury segment." He highlighted the company's focus on electric mobility as a key driver of their success.

The BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase emerged as the top-selling electric car during this period, followed by the flagship BMW i7. The long wheelbase models saw a remarkable 159% growth in sales, including the BMW 7 Series, 5 Series, and 3 Series.

Performance of Long Wheelbase Models

Long wheelbase models accounted for 47% of total sales. The strategic positioning of these models helped meet customer needs across various segments. The BMW 5 Series was the best-selling sedan with nearly a 20% share in sales.

The BMW 3 Series maintained its leading position in the Indian premium sedan market. Meanwhile, the BMW 7 Series and i7 models led their respective segments. The X7 model surpassed 5,000 deliveries since its launch.

SAVs and MINI Brand Performance

The company's sports activity vehicles (SAVs) experienced a double-digit growth of 17% in H1 2025. Their share in sales rose from 56% in Q1 to 59% in Q2. The X1 model was not only the highest-selling SAV for BMW but also led the Indian premium compact segment with over a 30% share.

The MINI brand delivered 297 units in H1 2025. The MINI Cooper S was the top-selling model, achieving over a 60% growth compared to H1 2024. Both Cooper S and Countryman E models had nearly equal shares in sales.

Motorcycle Sales Overview

BMW Motorrad delivered 2,569 motorcycles during H1 2025. The BMW G 310 RR was the most popular smart-cc bike. In the GS adventure category, the BMW 900 GS / GSA and BMW 1300 GS / GSA models were best-sellers.

The company continues to adapt to market demands by offering diverse products across its portfolio. This strategy has helped maintain its strong position in both car and motorcycle segments within India.
