Indus Towers also saw gains following the announcement, with its shares climbing nearly 4% to reach an intraday high of Rs 396.95 as of 2.11 pm. The stock opened at Rs 389.65, compared to its previous close of Rs 382.70.

The board of Bharti Airtel approved the acquisition of an additional 5% stake in Indus Towers. According to a company filing on November 3, a special committee authorised by the board granted approval for the stake increase.

Bharti Airtel highlighted Indus Towers as a critical infrastructure provider for the telecom sector. "Given its strategic importance," the company stated, "it is prudent to consolidate our stake while balancing cash flow requirements for capital expenditure and dividends."

"Earnings growth continues to benefit from premium customer additions, network efficiency, and calibrated capital expenditure (capex)," Motilal Oswal said in its note, emphasising the company's strong fundamentals and growth trajectory.
