Bengaluru Yellow Line Metro To Open On August 10: PM Narendra To Inaugurate; Check Route, Timings & More
Bengaluru is all set to add another milestone to its expanding metro rail network with the inauguration of the Namma Metro Yellow Line on August 10, 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially flag off the new line, which aims to drastically improve public transport access to Bangalore's southern corridor, particularly Electronic City and Bommasandra, both major IT and industrial hubs. The Yellow Line metro is expected to reduce Bengaluru traffic congestion along with cutting down travel times for lakhs of commuters daily.

Route & Station Details
The Yellow Line of Namma Metro stretches 19.15 km, running entirely on an elevated track. It connects RV Road (North) to Bommasandra (South), passing through key business, residential, and healthcare areas.

This stretch is set to become a lifeline for tech workers and residents commuting to and from Electronic City, BTM Layout, and Silk Board areas infamous for heavy road traffic.
Yellow Line Metro Timings
The Yellow Line of Bengaluru's Namma Metro will operate from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM, offering early-morning and late-night connectivity across the city. Initially, the line will launch with just three trains, running at intervals of 20 to 25 minutes. As operations scale up, peak hour frequency is expected to improve to every 6 to 10 minutes, while off-peak hours will see trains every 10 to 15 minutes. The end-to-end travel time across the 19.15 km stretch is estimated to be around 80 minutes.
According to BMRCL, daily ridership is expected to start at around 25,000 passengers, with numbers projected to rise to over 2 lakh commuters as more trains are added and frequency improves.

RV Road: Connects with the existing Green Line
Jayadeva Hospital: Will be the largest metro station in Bengaluru, with five levels, including bus and future Pink Line interchange
Central Silk Board: To connect with the upcoming Blue Line, making it a pivotal multi-modal hub
Advanced Technology: Fully elevated line, modern signalling systems, and digital ticketing integration for smoother commutes
Namma Yellow Line Metro Project Cost
The Namma Metro Yellow Line has been developed at a total project cost of Rs. 5,056.99 crore, aimed at significantly enhancing last-mile connectivity to key areas like IT parks, residential zones, and industrial hubs such as Bommasandra. With an expected daily ridership of up to 8 lakh commuters in the future, the line is seen as a vital solution to ease Bengaluru traffic. After receiving final clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), the Yellow Line is set to be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 10, with commercial operations likely to begin by mid-August 2025.
