Bengaluru Weather Today: IMD Issues Yellow Alert as Heavy Rains Likely Till Oct 14; Traffic Chaos Hits City
Bengaluru weather today continues to remain extremely wet, with several parts of the city experiencing incessant rainfall over the past two days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru weather, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning likely to continue through this weekend. The ongoing rainfall is because of the influence of the aftereffects of Cyclone Shakthi extending across South India.
IMD Rainfall Forecast and Alerts
According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), scattered to widespread light to moderate rain accompanied by strong winds and isolated heavy rainfall is expected across the state till October 14th. The IMD has issued a warning for the Bengaluru weather, as persistent rainfall, thunder, and lightning from October 8 to October 12 are expected to continue, with rainfall totals likely to exceed 100 mm in several areas.
Regions such as Malnad and South Interior Karnataka are likely to experience intense downpours, while Bengaluru city is expected to remain under a yellow alert for the next few days.

Bengaluru Rains Impact on City Life
Continuous rainfall in Bengaluru has already begun affecting normal life across the city. Reports of waterlogging and flooding have surfaced from several low-lying areas, including Jakkuru, Herohalli, Vidyaranyapura, etc.
People in other heavy traffic areas like HSR Layout and Outer Ring Road experienced slow traffic and power outages due to heavy rainfall on Thursday evening.
Many commuters also faced major traffic disruptions on Thursday evening as several major roads were affected. The Bengaluru civic authority has urged residents to avoid flood-prone areas, follow advisories, and be extremely cautious while travelling in waterlogged zones.
The civic authorities have placed emergency response teams on standby to handle any urban flooding or waterlogging incidents.
Weather Conditions and Advisory
According to IMD, Bengaluru weather this morning is under high humidity, cloudy skies, and temperatures between 19°C and 28°C, with damp weather conditions. The IMD has also warned of intermittent and occasional higher-speed winds which may cause tree falls and damage to weak structures.
Residents are advised to keep umbrellas handy and stay updated with official IMD Bengaluru weather alerts.
Weekend and Weekly Outlook
As per the extended IMD Bengaluru weather forecast, heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue today and Saturday, with slightly reduced rainfall on Sunday, though thunderstorms remain possible. The daytime temperature will hover around 25°C to 28°C, maintaining a cool and breezy atmosphere due to the persistent cloud cover.
Meteorologists expect marginal improvement in conditions by early next week, but patchy rain and occasional thunderstorms may continue beyond October 14.
