Bengaluru Airport Update: Kempegowda Airport Revises Pick Up Rules; What Will Change For Passengers?
Bengaluru Airport Update: The Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru (aka Bangalore) has revised certain rules and regulations for passengers for easy arrival and lower congestion at terminals. Now, private vehicles can enter pick-up zones for free of cost.
The revision in Bengaluru airport pick-up and drop services rules is expected to ease the congestion and improve passenger experience. For the frequent air travellers of Karnataka's Kempegowda International Airport, here are all the details you need to know.

Bengaluru Airport Update
Air travellers arriving at Bengaluru airport are now required to follow stricter arrival pick-up rules from this month. The changes focus on limiting how long vehicles wait at kerbsides, while keeping short pick-ups free for both private cars and commercial taxis.
As per the revised Bengaluru airport rules, the new system starts at Terminal 2 on 11 December 2025 and at Terminal 1 on 13 December 2025, after recent flight disruptions settled. Bangalore International Airport Limited is reshaping vehicle access to improve safety, reduce congestion and keep passenger movement smoother at arrivals.

From now onwards, private vehicles (with white number plates), can still enter the dedicated pick-up zones at both terminals without paying any fee. The free pick-up facility is available only for 8 minutes, and vehicles staying in the zone for longer than 8 minutes will be required to pay overstay charges. Additionally, cars parked beyond a set limit can even face towing and additional fines.
Stay duration | Charge / Action |
0–8 minutes | Free for private vehicles at T1 and T2 |
8–13 minutes | Rs 150 |
13–18 minutes | Rs 300 |
More than 18 minutes | Vehicle towed to nearest police station; extra fines and towing fees |
BIAL has set a three-step penalty structure to limit long waits at the kerb. The 8-minute free period is followed by charges for extra time, and serious action for long overstays, as shown below for all private vehicles using Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 arrival lanes.
Bengaluru Airport Pick Up Norms For Taxis, Cabs
For commercial vehicles, including yellow-board taxis and electric cabs, are barred from waiting at the terminal kerb. They are designated to move to parking areas. At Terminal 1, commercial pick-ups must use parking zones P3 and P4, while Terminal 2 pick-ups must use the P2 zone.
To keep taxi operations workable, the first 10 minutes of parking in these commercial zones will be free. After that, normal parking tariffs apply. Airport officials say this approach is meant to keep cabs away from kerbsides, while still letting drivers manage short waits for arriving passengers.
Officials also stress that the free 8-minute kerbside allowance for private cars is "significantly higher than international standards," and say this should give enough time for passengers to exit the terminal, load luggage and leave, without adding to heavy traffic outside the buildings.
