Apart from the region, banks will remain open across India, as it will be the third Saturday of the month. While banks will remain open on Saturday in other regions, all banks will remain closed on Sunday. The RBI has mandated bank holiday in every region across India on second and fourth Saturdays of the month and every Sunday.
The Reserve Bank of India has listed 18 bank holidays in December 2025, with several of them varying by state. While Christmas on December 25 will see a nationwide shutdown, many other closures apply only to specific cities.
Customers are advised to verify local timings before visiting branches. Under RBI rules, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks "will observe public holiday on the second and fourth Saturdays". Sundays are regular weekly offs as well. Together with national and regional holidays, this creates a dense December calendar that can affect cash, cheque and branch-dependent work.
