Bank Holidays in October 2025: Check Full List Of Region-Wise Closures For Diwali, Dhanteras, Bhai Dooj & More
Festive season bank holidays will be observed across India on coding days in October 2025. All bank Customers should be aware of the bank holiday schedule for this month to avoid last-minute inconvenience in banking transactions. Major banks like State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, BOB, and others will remain closed for Diwali, Dhanteras, Bhai Dooj, Chath Puja, and other regional festivals.

Major Bank Holidays Ahead
According to the official RBI holiday list, next week, bank holidays will be seen in multiple states for Diwali 2025. The main nationwide bank holiday falls on Monday, 20 October 2025, covering states like Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Assam, and others, as Diwali will be celebrated on this day.
On Tuesday, 21 October, bank holidays continue in states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and others for Diwali Amavasya, Laxmi Pujan, or Govardhan Puja.
Similarly, on Wednesday, 22 October, banks in Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka remain closed for Balipadyami or Govardhan Puja and Vikram Samvat New Year Day.
Other Scheduled Bank Holidays in October 2025: Region-wise
Several bank holidays are scheduled in October based on festivals, and there are mandatory days off on Sundays and alternate Saturdays.
October 18, Saturday: Banks in Guwahati will be closed for Kati Bihu, an important local festival celebrated in Assam.
October 23, Thursday: Banks will observe a holiday in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Imphal, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Shimla for multiple festive occasions, including Bhai Dooj, Chitragupt Jayanti, Bhratridwitiya, Laxmi Puja, and other regional festivals like Ningol Chakkouba; banking services will remain unavailable on this day
October 27, Monday: Banks in Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi will be closed in observance of Chhath Puja, as it's a major festival of Bihar.
October 28, Tuesday: Continuing the Chhath Puja observance, banks in Patna and Ranchi will remain closed for the morning Chhath Puja.
October 31, Friday: Banks in Ahmedabad will be closed to honour Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birthday, a national observance in Gujarat.

Plan ahead for any transactions and ensure all urgent banking activities are completed before the Diwali bank holidays.
Since bank holidays do not affect digital banking platforms, net banking, mobile banking, UPI apps, and ATMs remain functional even on bank holidays.
