Bank Holidays 2025: As the buzz over the bank holiday on July 7th dulled, focus has shifted to an upcoming holiday-driven week for both private and public banks. To be precise, banks will be closed for five days from July 14 to July 20. A host of special events such as Beh Deinkhlam, Harela, the Death Anniversary of U Tirot Singh, and Ker Puja are scheduled next week.
Bank Holiday On July 14:
Banks in some regions of India will be closed on Monday, July 14 due to the celebration of Beh Deinkhlam. Shillong is one of the main cities that will see a bank holiday.
Bank Holiday On July 16:
On this day, banks will be closed in cities like Dehradun for Harela celebration.
Bank Holiday On July 17:
Further, banks will be closed on July 17th due to the Death Anniversary of U Tirot Singh in Shillong.
From July 14 to July 18, banks will be closed in specific regions, hence not all banks will be shut. The full-fledged normal working days for all banks are on July 15 and July 18.
Bank Holidays On July 19:
Meanwhile, banks will be closed in Agartala on July 19, Ker Puja. Since July 19 is a third Saturday, except in Agartala, banks in other places will be open.

Beh Deinkhlam 2025:
Behdienkhlam Festival is the most celebrated Cultural festival among the Pnars. Behdienkhlam (chasing away the Demon of Cholera) is celebrated annually in July after the sowing period, the most important dance festival of the Jaintia tribes. This festival Tour is also an invocation to God, seeking his blessings for a bumper harvest. The women however do not participate in the dancing, as they have an important function of offering sacrificial food to the spirits of the forefathers. The festival held at Jowai is one of the most well-known and recreational festivals in Meghalaya, as per the Government of Meghalaya website.
Harela 2025:
Harela, which is celebrated in the Shravan month marks the advent of the rainy season and it also commemorates the wedding of Lord Shiva and Parvati. On this day, people make small Dikars (small idols of gods and goddesses made of clay) of Gauri, Maheshwar, and Ganesha, to worship them. The bullocks are also given rest on this day and the Harela is sent to friends and family. The festival is significant because it provides an opportunity for the cultivator to test the quality of seeds that he has in his stores, as per TourMyIndia.
Tirot Sing Death Anniversary 2025:
Tirot Sing, also known as U Tirot Sing Syiem, was one of the chiefs of the Khasi people in the early 19th century. He drew his lineage from the Syiemlieh clan. He was Syiem (king) of Nongkhlaw, part of the Khasi Hills. His surname was Syiemlieh. He was a constitutional head sharing corporate authority with his Council, general representatives of the leading clans within his territory. Tirot Sing declared war and fought against the British in attempts to take over control of the Khasi Hills, as per Wikipedia.
Ker Puja 2025:
Ker Puja is a festival held in Tripura, India. The celebration occurs two weeks after the Kharchi Puja to honour Ker, the guardian deity of Vastu Devata. It includes offerings, sacrifices, and a prescribed boundary which both safeguards people from calamities and saves them from external aggression, according to Wikipedia.

There was a popular buzz of bank holiday on July 7th as confusion arose for the 10th Muharram Ashura holiday. However, the RBI did not identify July 7th as a bank holiday for Muharram, since the day of Ashura was observed on July 6th.
This week, banks will be closed only on July 12th and July 13th due to the second Saturday and Sunday.
