Bank Holiday Today: All public and private banks will remain closed on Friday, September 12 in Jammu and Srinagar region, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar. Bank holidays other than Saturdays and Sundays, can sprung an unprecedented surprise on customers and can make it difficult to finish urgent financial tasks.
It is always better to plan for bank holidays in advance so that urgent financial tasks can be completed on time. As per the RBI holiday calendar, banks will remain closed on September 22, 23, 29 and 30 in selected regions. Additionally, banks are also shut on every Sunday and second and fourth Saturday of month.

Are Banks Closed Today?
Yes, banks in Jammu and Srinagar regions are closed today as it is the Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi. All private, public and other banks located in other regions of the country will remain open and function normally on Friday.
Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi is also known as Mawlid, is celebrated with huge joy and fervour among Muslims as it marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. It is observed on the 12th day of the Rabi's al-Awwal, which is the third month of the Islamic calendar. The festival serves as an opportunity for Muslims across the world to cherish and celebrate Prophet's life and teachings, which emphasise compassion, justice and unity.
Bank Holidays in September
Other than the bank holiday on Friday, there are few more bank holidays which will fall in September. To avoid any last minute blunder or any other mistake, people must stay up-to-date with the RBI's bank holiday calendar for 2025.
There will be a bank holiday on September 22 on the occasion of Navratra Sthapna in Jaipur region. Other than this, banks will remain closed in Jammu and Srinagar region on September 23 to mark the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.
There will be a bank holiday in Agartala, Guwahati, and Kolkata region on the occasion of Maha Saptami/Durga Puja on September 29. Whereas on the occasion of Maha Ashtami/Durga Ashtami/Durga Puja, banks will remain shut in Agartala, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi region on September 30.
