Bank Holiday Today: With the weekend arriving, many people who missed completing their pending bank-related tasks might be planning a visit today. Since the Reserve Bank of India mandates bank closures on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, a common question arises: Are banks open today?
Are Banks Closed Today?
Banks are closed today in the Ranchi region on the occasion of Birsa Munda Birth Anniversary, or State Formation Day, as per the RBI calendar. Other than the Ranchi region, banks will remain open across the country today, as it is the third Saturday of the month. The RBI mandates bank closure on every second and fourth Saturday of the month.

As per the RBI holiday calendar, banks were scheduled to remain closed on 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 15 November on the occasion of Kannada Rajyothsava/Igas-Bagwal, Guru Nanak Jayanti/Kartika Purnima/Rahas Purnima, Nongkrem Dance/Bihar Legislative Assembly General Election 2025, Wangala Festival, Kanakadasa Jayanthi, and Birsa Munda Birth Anniversary / State Formation Day.
People can perform most of their financial tasks like money transactions, opening fixed deposits, creating demand drafts, etc, with the help of online banking on bank holidays as well.
Bank Holidays in December
Banks will remain closed in December for more than five days, excluding holidays on Saturdays and Sundays. As per the RBI holiday calendar, banks will remain shut on 1st, 3rd, 12th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 30h, 31st December on the occasion of State Inauguration Day/Indigenous Faith Day, Feast of St. Francis Xavier, Death Anniversary of Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma, Death Anniversary of U SoSo Tham, Goa Liberation Day, Losoong / Namsoong, Losoong / Namsoong, Christmas Eve, Christmas, Christmas Celebration, Christmas, Death Anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah, New Year's Eve/Imoinu Iratpa, etc.
These bank holidays may vary from region to region. However, bank holiday on December 25 on the occasion of Christmas will remain across all the regions in India including Bangalore, Agartala, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla, Bhopal, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, etc.
