Are Banks Closed Today? Yes, all private banks will remain closed across Agartala region on Thursday, July 3 on the occasion of Kharchi Puja. However, banks will remain open in other regions of the country today.
According to the RBI calendar, July 3, has been marked as a bank holiday under 'Negotiable Instrument Act', which means that these holidays have been declared by the state government. For any other confusion, visitors can contact their nearest branch managers or employees.
Other than July 3, the RBI has marked July 5th, 14th, 16, 19, 28 as bank holidays under the Negotiable Instrument Act. However, these holidays are not pan-India but will be implemented in different regions across India.

There is a bank holiday in Tripura's Agartala region on Thursday, July 3, on the occasion of Kharchi Puja. Kharchi Puja is one of the most popular festivals in Tripura. The occasion is celebrated with huge jo and fervour across the state where people worship fourteen gods, also known as Chaturdasha Devata. The festival is known for its elaborate rituals and cultural vibrancy. Other than Tripura, banks will remain open in other states.
Bank Holiday in July
Banks will remain shut for thirteen days in July including Saturdays and Sundays. As per the RBI notification, all banks remain shut on Sundays and second and fourth Saturday of the month.
Banks will remain shut on July 5 in Jammu and Srinagar regions to mark the occasion of Guru Hargobind Ji's Birthday. Guru Hargobind Ji was the sixth of the ten Gurus of the Sikh religion. Hebecame Guru at a very young age after his father, Guru Arjan, was persecuted by Mughal emperor Jahangir. As per reports, he introduced the process of militarisation to Sikhism and symbolised it by wearing two swords.
Banks will remain shut on July 14 and July 17 in Shillong region on the occasion of Beh Deinkhlam, a popular festival in Meghalaya. Then banks in Dehradun region will remain closed on the occasion of Harela on July 16. The Hindu festival, popular in Kumaon region, is celebrated with huge joy and fervour across the area.
Banks across the Agartala region will remain shut on July 19 on the occasion of Ker Puja, which is a centuries-old tradition linked to the royal era of Tripura. Banks will remain closed on July 28 on the occasion of Drukpa Tshe-zi in Gangtok region.
