Indian banks will be closed in several cities on September 30, due to the celebration of Durga Ashtami. However, the holidays will vary from city to city. Durga Ashtami, also popularly known as Maha Ashtami is the eighth form of Goddess Durga and celebrated on the eigth day of Navratri.
Bank Holidays On September 30:
According to RBI list, banks will be closed on September 30 in cities like Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Imphal, Jaipur, Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi.
This holiday falls under the Negotiable Instruments Act category of RBI.
During bank holidays, your financial transactions could be impacted. In general terms, bank holidays result in closure of payment systems, investments and financial activities, which could delay the processing times of a time transaction.

Maha Ashtami, the eighth day of Navratri, is said to be the most auspicious day to seek Goddess Durg's blessings.
Durga Ashtami, as the name suggests, is dedicated to Goddess Durga. According to legend, one of Maa Durga's avatars, Chamunda, appears on her forehead to eliminate the evil demons Chanda and Munda who aided Mahishasura in carrying out his nefarious plans. Devotees observe a day-long fast on this day to seek blessings of Goddess Durga. It is believed that one who performs Durga Ashtami Vrat with devotion is bestowed with good fortune, success, and happiness. In several communities in India, Astra Puja (worshipping the weapons) or Ayudha Puja is also conducted in honour of Maa Durga's chivalrous act. This day is also known as Vira Ashtami, as per mPanchang.
