Bank Holiday August 2025: From Aug 19 to 31, Banks Closed on These Days; Check City-wise List
The month of August 2025 has already seen several bank holidays, including Independence Day, Janmashtami, Parsi New Year, and Raksha Bandhan. However, the holiday calendar is not over yet. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), more bank holiday in August 2025 are lined up in the remaining 12 days. These holidays are declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act, and they vary from state to state depending on local festivals, events, and customary observances.
For customers, this means that bank branches will remain closed on specific bank holidays, but essential services like ATM withdrawals, UPI, mobile banking, and online transactions will continue without interruption. Below is the list of upcoming bank holidays in August 2025 and how they will impact banking operations across India.

Upcoming Bank Holidays in August
The RBI holiday list confirms the following closures between August 19 and August 31st:
August 19, Tuesday: Birthday of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur - Banks in Agartala, Tripura, will remain closed.
August 23, Saturday: Fourth Saturday, weekly holiday; banks to remain closed nationwide.
August 24, Sunday: Regular Sunday holiday; banks will be closed nationwide.
August 25, Monday: Tirobhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva; banks closed in Guwahati, Assam.
August 27, Wednesday: Ganesh Chaturthi. Banks will remain closed in major cities such as Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, and Vijayawada.
August 28, Thursday: Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd Day) / Nuakhai, bank holiday in Bhubaneswar and Panaji.
August 31, Sunday: Weekly holiday, so banks will be closed nationwide.
Impact of Bank Holidays on Customers
While bank counters and branch services will remain shut on these dates, customers need not worry about their financial transactions. Here's what remains operational during the August 2025 bank holidays:
ATM services will be operational, and customers can withdraw or deposit cash at ATMs anytime.
Net banking, UPI payments, and mobile banking apps will continue to work as usual.
Online payments, fund transfers, bill payments, and e-commerce transactions remain unaffected.
