The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued the list of August 2025 bank holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which varies from state to state. However, digital banking services, including net banking, UPI, mobile banking apps, and ATMs, will function 24/7 even during these holidays.

Bank Holidays in India This Week (Aug 25 to 31)
According to the RBI calendar, the following bank holidays will take place next week:
August 25, Monday: Tirobhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva: Banks will remain closed in Guwahati, Assam.
August 27, Wednesday: Ganesh Chaturthi:Banks will remain closed in major cities like Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, and Vijayawada.
August 28, Thursday: Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd Day) / Nuakhai: Bank holiday in Bhubaneswar and Panaji.
August 31, Sunday: Weekly holiday, banks closed nationwide.
These holidays are applicable to public sector banks, private sector banks, foreign banks, regional rural banks (RRBs), cooperative banks, and scheduled commercial banks, as per the RBI guidelines.

One of the major festivals leading to bank holidays next week is Ganesh Chaturthi 2025, which is celebrated widely across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, and Tamil Nadu. Banks in these states will remain closed on August 27 and partially on August 28. Nuakhai, which is also an important festival in Odisha, will lead to bank holidays in several regions.
