Air India, SpiceJet, Akasa Tickets Skyrocket Amid IndiGo Flight Cancellations; Flights Running Status Citywise

With thousands of flights cancelled or delayed amid an ongoing operational meltdown at IndiGo, domestic carriers have begun aggressive surge pricing, taking advantage of stranded passengers. Travellers and booking portals reported on Friday that domestic tickets on several airlines now cost more than return international fares.

As per rates shown on Skyscanner, an Air India one-stop flight from Delhi to Bengaluru for Friday night was priced at Rs 1.02 lakh, while Akasa Air quoted around Rs 39,000 on the same route.

On the Delhi-Mumbai route, Air India tickets were selling for Rs 60,000, whereas Chennai-Delhi tickets on Air India Express climbed to Rs 41,000, and SpiceJet quoted Rs 69,000 for the same route before the announcement of total flight cancellations from Delhi and Chennai.

Air India Express Status, Tickets For 5 December 2025

Fares on Hyderabad routes also saw a sharp spike. A Hyderabad-Delhi one-stop Air India flight was priced at Rs 87,000, while Hyderabad-Mumbai tickets reached Rs 76,500, with Air India Express quoting Rs 38,300. For the Hyderabad-Bengaluru sector, Air India fares touched Rs 41,400 and Air India Express tickets were priced at Rs 36,100.

Out of over 500 flight cancellations on Friday, Delhi Airport confirmed that all domestic flights from the capital were cancelled. Earlier reports noted that 225 IndiGo flights, comprising both arrivals and departures, were cancelled since morning, severely impacting travellers. Mumbai Airport experienced similar chaos, with all flights cancelled until 6 pm.

SpiceJet Added Additional Flights Services

Low-cost carrier SpiceJet was found charging up to Rs 80,000 for single-sector flights on key routes, a dramatic jump from normal fares ranging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 12,000.

One-way economy class tickets on a two-stop Air India flight were listed at Rs 70,329, while business class tickets for a last-minute Air India connection from Hyderabad to Bhopal with three stops reportedly touched Rs 1,27,090. A SpiceJet ticket on a route that usually costs between Rs 5,000 and Rs 8,000 surged to around Rs 38,000.

On the high-volume Delhi-Bengaluru sector, one-way economy tickets were observed ranging from Rs 21,000 up to Rs 52,694, reflecting the unprecedented spike in demand amid cancellations.

IndiGo Flight Cancellations: City-wise Airports List With Number of Cancelled Flights Today

The crisis extended to other major airports Bengaluru witnessed over 500 flight cancellations on Friday. The ongoing disruption has left passengers scrambling for alternative travel options, while airlines continue to raise fares dramatically to manage the operational strain.

Delhi IGI Airport: All departures cancelled till midnight.

Rajkot: All IndiGo flights cancelled; around 8 flights affected.

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Hyderabad: 49 outbound and 43 inbound IndiGo flights cancelled (92 total).

Goa, Dabolim Airport (GOI): 30 IndiGo domestic flights cancelled in the morning.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad: 86 IndiGo flights cancelled between 12:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Chennai International Airport (MAA): All departing IndiGo flights cancelled till 6:00 pm.

Jaipur International Airport (JAI): 34 IndiGo flights cancelled.

Pune Airport (PNQ): 32 IndiGo flights cancelled.

Srinagar International Airport (SXR): 10 IndiGo flights cancelled.

When will IndiGo services return to normal?

In an official statement on Thursday, IndiGo said that operations are expected to normalise within the next 48 hours. The airline added, "Our teams are working around the clock to minimize customer inconvenience and ensure that operations stabilise as quickly as possible," while extending an apology to affected passengers."

When will you receive a refund for IndiGo flight cancellations?"

IndiGo has provided details regarding cancellation refunds. The airline stated, "We wish to share the following information with you: all refunds for cancelled flights will be processed automatically to your original method of payment. We will offer a full waiver on all cancellations and rescheduling requests for bookings made for travel between 5 December 2025 and 15 December 2025," IndiGo said.
