68 Trains Cancelled in Jammu Region Until September 30 Due to Floods; Full List of Trains Resuming Services
In the aftermath of record-breaking rainfall and devastating flash floods, railway services in the Jammu region have been severely affected, leaving thousands of passengers including pilgrims stranded. The Northern Railway has announced the cancellation of 68 trains originating from Jammu and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra stations until September 30.
Railway Cancelled 68 Trains in Jammu-Pathankot Section Until September 30
According to officials, the cancellations will remain in effect until September 30, as emergency repairs and safety inspections continue along the Pathankot-Jammu section, a key rail corridor connecting the Jammu region to the rest of India.

24 Train Services Resume: Check List of Affected Trains
In a glimmer of relief, officials have confirmed that 24 train services have resumed to aid the movement of stranded passengers and local commuters. These include long-distance trains such as:
- Sampark Kranti Express
- Sealdah Express
- Kantri Express
- Trivandrum Express
- Vande Bharat Express (resuming September 7)
- Kolkata-bound trains
- New Delhi-bound services from Katra
These resumed services are critical lifelines, particularly for pilgrims returning from the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi, and for those needing to travel to metropolitan cities.
Shuttle Services Between Jammu and Katra
To assist in local movement, the Northern Railway has introduced four shuttle train services between Jammu Tawi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra stations. These shuttle trains began operating on September 1 and will continue until September 15.
"Shuttle services have been started with the induction of two pairs of trains to facilitate the movement of locals and stranded passengers between Jammu and Katra," an official said.
These shuttle trains are operating multiple times daily, ensuring short-distance connectivity where long-haul trains remain non-operational. The services are being prioritized for pilgrims and residents in the region.
Special Trains for Stranded Passengers in Jammu Floods, Especially For Vaishno Devi Pilgrims
To further assist those stuck due to the suspension of services, the Railways is operating special trains, including:
- Jammu Tawi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (2 shuttle services)
- Jammu Tawi-Kolkata Special Train
- Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Special Train
These services are aimed at evacuating stranded passengers and restoring some semblance of travel normalcy in the affected areas.
Vande Bharat Express to Resume from September 7
The prestigious Vande Bharat Express, which was temporarily suspended due to the damage in the Jammu region, is scheduled to resume operations on September 7, 2025. This high-speed train is a vital link between Jammu and key northern cities and is expected to significantly ease travel congestion upon its return.
So far, the resumption of key train services has helped transport around 5,784 stranded passengers from the Jammu region to their destinations, according to railway officials.
