The Delhi government has declared a public holiday on November 25, 2025, to mark the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, the ninth Sikh Guru who is revered for his supreme sacrifice in the defence of religious freedom. The announcement was made by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta through a post on X, where she highlighted the significance of the day and the values upheld by Guru Tegh Bahadur.

In her message, Delhi CM stated, "The Delhi Government has decided to declare 25 November 2025 as a Public Holiday to commemorate the sacred occasion of the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. May Guru Sahib's timeless message of courage, compassion, and freedom of faith continue to guide and inspire us in our collective journey ahead."

Similarly, the Uttar Pradesh government has also declared a public holiday on November 25 to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The holiday will apply to all state government offices, schools, and educational institutions across Uttar Pradesh.
The state government emphasised Guru Tegh Bahadur's legacy as a champion of religious liberty and acknowledged his unparalleled sacrifice in standing against forced conversions during Mughal rule.

With the declaration of the holiday, most state government offices and departments in Delhi are expected to remain closed for the day.
However, hospitals and essential healthcare services, including emergency departments in government hospitals, will remain fully functional to ensure uninterrupted medical support.
Meanwhile, public transport services such as the Delhi Metro, DTC buses, and taxis will continue to operate normally as per their scheduled routes and timings, ensuring ease of movement for residents and visitors.
Will schools in Delhi-NCR, Punjab and other states remain closed on November 25 on Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day?
All government-run and private schools will remain shut on Tuesday on the occassion of 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. Meanwhile, colleges are also likely to follow suit.
350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib
Shaheedi Diwas is observed annually to honour Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, who was executed on the orders of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1675. His martyrdom is regarded as a pivotal moment in Indian history, symbolising resistance against oppression and defending the right to religious freedom. Guru Tegh Bahadur's profound courage and steadfastness continue to inspire millions across the world.
