Economic growth rate to be 8 to 9%: President Pratibha Patil

President Pratibha Patil, says the Government is confident that it will soon steer the country back to the high growth trajectory of 8-9%.

Addressing a joint session of Parliament at the beginning of the Budget Session, the President said the current year has been a difficult year for the world economy and economic uncertainties had its impact across the globe.

She said that the long term fundamentals of the Indian economy were sound. President Patil said that the government was making efforts to introduce several bills in parlianment.
