Sensex rekindles in green ahead of New Year

The Benchmark SENSEX opened in green with more than 90 points in morning trade. At 10.25 am IST Sensex was at 15,955.39 up by 216.69 points or 1.38%. The 50-share NSE Nifty was at 4,773.25, up by 59.25 points or 1.22%.

The upbeat in US economy data released and stability in European market on the eve of Christmas has bought positive cues in domestic market.

In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 92.56 points or 1.20% to 8,488.27. China’s Shanghai Composite was down 6.27 points or 0.28% at 2,198.51. Hang Seng index rose 250.94 points or 1.37% to 18,689.17

Among Sectoral indices on the BSE, all the sectors were trading in positive terrain. Capital Goods, Realty, TECk, Auto were among the toppers.

On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the top volume gainers were Bharti Airtel, Hero Moto Corp, L&T, Rcom and TCS posted gains between 2.06%-3.25%

And the top losers in the opening trade were Ranbaxy, Powergrid , cipla, and BPCL were among top losers.

US market remained closed today on account of Christmas.
