Sensex ends close to 16,000 level
Indian markets rallied on Monday, led by good buying support in IT and Capital Goods. With most of the global markets remained closed today due to Christmas holiday, Indian markets were able to fetch attention of the investors.

The BSE Sensex ended up by 1.47% or 232.05 points at 15,970.75, while NSE Nifty ended at 4,779, up by 1.38% or 65 points.

All the sectors ended in green on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The top leaders stood Teck, IT, Capital Goods, Realty and Auto, posted gains of 1.65%, 1.41%, 1.21%, 1.12% and 1%, respectively.

The sectors posted minimal gains were Health Care, PSU, FMCG and Bankex. All were up between 0.30% - 0.73%.

On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the top gainers were Hero Moto Corp, Bharti Airtel, RCom, Infosys and Tata Steel. All were up by 4.54%, 4.45%, 3.35%, 3.24% and 3.02%, respectively.

The top volume losers on the NSE were Axis Bank (1.41%), BPCL (1.27%), Maruti (1.06%), Ranbaxy (1.05%) and Hindalco (0.94%).
