Anand Mahindra, a billionaire philanthropist, is among the largest promoters of the large-cap auto stock Mahindra & Mahindra. On September 2, M&M shares declined by nearly 1% after a 4% rally at the start of the current week. The latest sell-off brings an opportunity to buy on dips, as brokerage Prabhudas Lilladher has added M&M to its technical pick, with a new target set at Rs 3,750 for a 2-month timeframe.
M&M Share Price:
At the time of writing, M&M stock traded at Rs 3285.10 apiece on BSE, down by 0.90% with a market cap of Rs 4,08,511.66 crore. In the previous session, M&M shares had gained by more than 3.6% to close at Rs 3315.00 apiece, which was nearing its 52-week high of Rs 3,430.10 apiece.
Despite the latest drop, M&M stock is up by more than 7% YTD. In a year, the stock zoomed by over 18.2%. Further, M&M's all-time gains are a whopping 11,078%. Once upon a time, M&M shares were merely at Rs 29.4 apiece on January 1, 1999.
Anand Mahindra holds 1,430,008 equity shares or 0.12%, in M&M as of the June 2025 quarter.
BUY M&M Stock?
According to K V Shiju, Senior Manager - Technical Research at PL Capital, M&M, the stock has recently indicated a breakout above the tough hurdle of 3,270 and thereafter, after a short period of correction has slipped to arrive near the base of the ascending channel pattern showing signs of taking support and indicating a revival to move past the significant 50EMA at 3,215 levels to improve the bias.
Further, the analyst added, with the overall trend maintained strong and with the RSI cooling off from the overbought zone, the stock is currently well-positioned to anticipate a further rise in the coming days.
'With the chart technically well placed, we suggest buying and accumulating the stock for an upside target of 3,750, keeping the stop loss at the 3,050 level," the analyst added.
The validity period for the new target is set at 2 months.
M&M Auto Sales:
M&M announced that its overall auto sales for the month of August 2025 stood at 75,901 vehicles, a flat growth including exports. Also, in the Utility Vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 39,399 vehicles in the domestic market, a decline of -9% and overall, 40,846 vehicles, including exports. The domestic sales for Commercial Vehicles stood at 22,427.

Bonus Issue: M&M has delivered two bonus issues in its history. The company issued 1:1 bonus shares each in September 2005 and December 2017.
Stock Split: The company has split only once so far. With effect from March 29, 2010, its face value has been subdivided from Rs 10 to Rs 5, which results into a split ratio of 1:2.
Dividends: M&M shares have delivered at least 25 dividends since June 2003, as per Trendlyne data. In the past 12 months, the payout was to the tune of Rs 25.30 per share. Its dividend yield is at 0.76%.
