1:1 Split Soon: Tata's Auto Stock Falls 12% In 6 Months; Buy Or Sell? Rs 799 - Rs 830 Target Price

Tata Motors' share price is among the top bears on BSE and NSE, following the bearish trend in overall auto stocks after Tesla entered in Indian market. Tesla has stepped into India's EV segment, which is currently dominated by Tata Motors. Hence, tough competition between EV makers is expected. Tata Motors' share price is also focused ahead of its Q1 results and development in the demerger.

Tata Motors Share Price:

At the time of writing, Tata Motors stock price traded at Rs 680.85 apiece, down by 0.6% on BSE, with a market cap of Rs 250,687.66 crore. This auto heavyweight stock is near its intraday low of Rs 684 apiece.

Tata Motors' share price has significantly dropped in 2025. YTD, the stock is down by 9.2%, while in the past six months, the Tata Motors share price has plunged by over 12%.

BUY/SELL Tata Motors Stock?

For this week, in technical terms, Equity Pandit stated that the Tata Motors share price will see immediate support at 673.10 and immediate resistance would be seen at 694.45. If the Tata Motors share price closes below the immediate support of 673.10, then a sharp breakdown can be seen. Tata Motors' share price will see major support at 664.40 for the week.

For the long term, brokerage BNP Paribas has suggested OUTPERFORM on Tata Motors with a target price of Rs 830.

However, brokerage Nuvama continues to have a REDUCE recommendation on the Tata Group with target price of Rs 799. JLR is expected to be a major worry for Tata Motors. The luxury car maker's EBIT margin is seen at 5.2%, which is near the lower end of its guided range. This comes at a time when JLR has deducted its incentives by 100 bps in the US market. FY26 and FY27 margin outlook is likely at 6.1% and 8.3% respectively.

As per Trendlyne data, the consensus recommendation from 28 analysts for Tata Motors Ltd. is HOLD. Of the total, 6 analysts have recommended STRONG BUY, 5 analysts have suggested BUY and 12 analysts have recommended HOLD on Tata Motors. The average target price is at Rs 765.93 apiece, hinting at 12.51% potential upside ahead.

Tata Motors Split:

During the 80th annual general meeting (AGM) of Tata Motors, Chairman N Chandrasekaran shed light on the demerger plans. He said the company will be split into two listed entities soon. One will be focused on commercial vehicles (CV) and the other will emphasize on passenger and JLR cars segment.

As part of the demerger plan, Tata Motors shareholders will get 1 share of TMLCV with a face value of Rs 2 each for every 1 share held in the company. This makes the business split ratio to 1:1.
