World Book Day 2025 Special: Top 10 Must-Read Books That Feel Like Home, Book Recommendation
Readers across the world are celebrating World Book & Copyright day which is observed by UNESCO on 23rd April every year. On this day famous literary figures like William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega departed from this world. So World Book Day is celebrated to honor their contribution to the world of literature and to encourage new authors and new age readers.
Harry Potter Fame J. K Rowling once said, "If you don't like to read, you haven't found the right book." So in honour of World Book Day 2025, we've curated a list of 10 heartwarming books for those who love to read and also for those who want to begin their journey as a reader. These stories often give the feeling of coming back home after a long time. Feeding on Nostalgia, Here are my top 10 book recommendations from my favorite list:
1. Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
The first on the list has to be this Murakami gem. A quietly haunting novel that explores love and the loss of it. Murakami's universe in Norwegian Wood is about the sad world of Toru Watanabe and Naoko who are dealing with mental health issues which is often not talked about much. It's the kind of story that stays with you long after you've turned over the last page.
2. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
This novel is all about friendship and how challenges can bring distance in life. The story is set in Afghanistan in the 1960s and deals with the friendship and betrayal of Amir and Hassan. The Kite Runner is a reminder that it's never too late to make things right and definitely a must-read.
3. How to Stop Time by Matt Haig
One of my favourite stories of all time. It revolves around Tom Hazard, who looks like an ordinary 40-year-old, but he's been alive for centuries. This thought-provoking novel deals with the challenge of truly living. How to Stop Time is a comforting read for anyone feeling lost in life.

4. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
The only self-help book in this list which is more than just a book which says how to deal with life. This is the story of the spiritual journey of Santiago, who is in search of meaning in his life. The Alchemist talks about dreams, signs, and self-discovery as a reminder that the universe conspires to help you achieve what your heart truly desires.
5. Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa
This is a very quiet, lovely story set in an old bookshop in Tokyo. The protagonist Takako learns to heal through books, tea, and conversations with her uncle. It's perfect for those who love reading about reading.
6. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
The Midnight Library is a kind of novel which makes you question your life decisions. What if you could see all the lives you could have lived? The regrets and possibilities of paths not taken that haunt us for the rest of our lives. A must-read and hidden gem of a story that should be in your TBR (To Be Read).
7. A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
This is the story of Ove, who deals with love, loss and resilience. Overall, this book is both hilarious and heartbreaking. The characters in the novels will stay in your heart forever. By the end of the story you'll know that kindness can come from the most unexpected places.
8. The Flip Side by James Bailey
A heartfelt story about life not going to plan and how that's okay. It. It is a light and funny novel revolving around Josh and his unpredictable life.
9. The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna
This beautiful novel is about a lonely witch who finds a place she truly belongs to that is filled with magic. A very interesting read which deals with the idea of self-acceptance and creating your own kind of family.
10. The People on Platform 5 by Clare Pooley
This book portrays how compassion can rise in the most ordinary places. The story is about five strangers who share the same train platform daily but don't speak to each other until one small incident brings them together, which creates unexpected friendship. This shows how reaching out for supply is fundamental in human relationships.
