UIDAI Launches New Aadhaar App: Know How to Download, Update Mobile Number, Address & Verify Aadhaar Offline
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a revamped Aadhaar mobile application aimed at making identity verification and profile management more secure, convenient and privacy-centric. The new Aadhaar App allows users to verify their identity offline, control what personal details are shared and update key information such as mobile numbers and addresses directly from their smartphones.
UIDAI Launched New Aadhaar App in Full Version
The full version of the app is being rolled out from January 28, with UIDAI activating several advanced features that were previously unavailable. UIDAI has confirmed the launch on social media, describing it as a major digital upgrade. While a basic Aadhaar app existed earlier, the latest release is expected to consolidate almost all Aadhaar services into a single mobile platform.

UIDAI said the new app responds to a persistent issue where Aadhaar photocopies are routinely shared for everyday activities such as hotel stays, SIM card issuance and workplace verification. This practice increases the risk of identity misuse. The updated app aims to eliminate the need for physical documents by enabling secure digital verification through mobile phones.
With this move, Aadhaar services are shifting toward a mobile-first model, reducing paperwork while strengthening data protection.

The app is now ready to use for Aadhaar verification and updates
Offline Aadhaar Verification: Know How To Verify Your Aadhaar Without Internet
One of the standout features of the new app is offline Aadhaar verification, which works without internet access and avoids unnecessary disclosure of personal data.
Users can verify Aadhaar details in two ways. The first is through a Share ID option, which generates a password-protected Aadhaar file containing only selected information such as name or age.
The second method uses QR code scanning, where the app scans a code displayed by the requesting entity to complete verification instantly without sharing physical documents.
Both methods are designed to limit data exposure while ensuring reliable authentication.
Within the app, users can hide sensitive fields such as full address or exact date of birth. Only the information required for a particular service is shared, while the remaining details stay concealed. This selective sharing model gives users full authority over their data.
Digital Aadhaar Replaces Physical Aadhaar Card Photocopies
The new app removes the need to carry printed Aadhaar cards or photocopies. Once logged in using the mobile number linked to Aadhaar, users can view a digital Aadhaar within the app. This digital version can be presented via QR code or in masked form during verification.
By reducing reliance on physical documents, the app lowers the risk of loss, duplication or misuse of Aadhaar information.
Update Mobile Number and Address Through the Aadhaar App
The New Aadhaar App also simplifies the process of updating Aadhaar details. Users can now request changes to their mobile number or address directly from their phone, without visiting an Aadhaar centre.
