While Aadhaar card is not mandatory for Indian citizens, but it has become an essential part of document verification and KYCs. Hence, people must make sure that their name, address, date of birth, phone number, and other details are correctly updated in their Aadhaar card.
Aadhaar Card: How To Update Address in Aadhaar Card?
In many government offices, Aadhaar card also acts as a ID proof for address. If there are discrepancies in your address mentioned in your Aadhaar, you can visit your nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre to update your Aadhaar card details like address. Follow the steps below to apply for rectification online.
-Visit the UIDAI official website, ie https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
-Login using your Aadhaar details and by submitting your OTP.
-Check your profile and select the 'Address Update' section.
-Navigate the section and click on the 'Update Aadhaar' option.
-Read the instructions shown on your screen and proceed.
-Select the 'Address' option from the list and proceed.
-Review your current address. The next step is to carefully enter the address details you want to update. Make sure to update the address details as mentioned in your supporting documents.
-Select a valid proof of document.
-Scan the document and upload it on the website.
-Verify the details and proceed to make a non-refundable payment of Rs 50.
-You will receive a 'Service Request Number' (SRN) on the completion of application. Note it down for future reference.
Note that you have to upload your address document as per the mandatory size, ie size less than 2 MB; file format JPEG, PNG or PDF.
Which Documents Are Acceptable As Document For Identity and Address?
People can submit the mentioned documents as supporting ID proof at the time of applying for a change in address and personal details. ie (a) Ration card (b) Voter identity card (c) Kisan photo passbook (d) Indian passport (e) Government-issued identity card/certificate1 , ST/SC/OBC certificate or marriage certificate, having photograph (f) Disability identity card / certificate of disability2 (g) Transgender identity card/certificate3 (h) Certificate issued in UIDAI standard certificate format in respect of a sex worker4 (i) Certificate issued in UIDAI standard certificate format by recognised shelter homes or orphanages (j) Prisoner induction document issued by Prison Officer.
In addition to this, people can also submit electricity, water, gas or telephone/mobile/broadband bill (not more than three months old), duly signed and stamped Scheduled Commercial Bank / Post Office passbook with photograph, duly signed and stamped Scheduled Commercial Bank / Post Office account/credit-card statement (not more than three months old), valid rent, lease or leave & licence agreement, certificate issued in UIDAI Standard Certificate format by MP, MLA, MLC, Municipal Councillor, Group 'A' or 'B' Gazetted Officer, EPFO Officer or Tahsildar; certificate issued in UIDAI Standard Certificate format by Village Panchayat Head/Secretary, Village Revenue Officer or equivalent (for rural areas); certificate issued to a student in UIDAI Standard Certificate format by the head of the recognised educational institution concerned; property tax receipt (not more than one year old) (i) Valid registered sale agreement or gift deed; government/statutory-body/PSU-issued accommodation allotment letter (not more than one year old); life or medical insurance policy (not more than one year old) as address documents.
