In a bid to curb traffic violations, road rage cases, and cut down rash driving incidents, the Delhi police has launched the Traffic Prahari app. The mobile application empowers daily commuters to take action against traffic violators by reporting about them online.
The initiative was launched nearly a year ago and aims to improve the national capital's traffic situation and enhance road safety with the help of public participation. Delhi Police's Traffic Prahari application has been downloaded by nearly more than one lakh users on Playstore application. Here are all the details about Delhi Police's Traffic Prahari application.

What is Delhi Traffic Prahari Application?
Traffic Prahari application is a mobile application which allows its software users to register complaints against those who violate the traffic rules. Since the launch of Delhi Traffic Prahari application, nearly 6 lakh complaints have been registered through the app since April 16, saiid Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena on April 21.
During his address, he also acknowledged the collective responsibility of traffic management and expressing gratitude to all the Traffic Prahari award recipients.
Delhi Traffic Prahari Application: How To Use?
-Search for 'Traffic Prahari' application on Google Playstore.
-Download and install the application from Google Playstore.
-Open the application and proceed by entering your mobile number.
-You will receive an OTP on the number you had shared.
-Register by providing details like your name and email address.
-After registration, you will receive two options, 'Report offences' or 'Reported Offences'
-Select the first option to report an offence, and give the application access to your device location.
-Capture the photo of the vehicle, and enter details like, 'Vehicle number', 'offence location', time etc.
-You can also select the type of offence by the vehicle owner from options like 'Dangerous driving', 'without helmet', 'triple riding', etc.
With the Traffic Prahari app, you can report various traffic violations. These include red light jumping, wrong-side driving, road rage incidents, dangerous overtaking, illegal parking, and other infractions. To report, simply capture a photo or video through the app and upload it. Verified reports may lead to cash rewards or incentives.
How to Become a Traffic Prahari?
To join this movement and contribute to safer roads in Delhi, download the Traffic Prahari app from the Google Play Store. An iOS version might be available later. Register using your phone number and ID while ensuring your details remain confidential. Use the in-app camera or upload images from your gallery with clear number plates and locations.
Once you upload your report, you can track its verification status. If validated, you'll receive notifications and potential rewards. Depending on the violation type and evidence quality, you might earn monetary compensation or recognition for your efforts.
The Need for Citizen Involvement
Delhi leads Indian cities in road accident-related fatalities. Despite improvements in infrastructure and enforcement by Delhi Police, they can't monitor every situation simultaneously. Citizen-powered policing fills this gap by enabling residents to assist in maintaining order on the roads.
The Traffic Prahari app was initially launched in 2015 but now boasts enhanced features and a structured approach. It empowers users to actively participate in Delhi's road safety mission while being rewarded for their civic duty.
